Yeah, one of the best cartoons finally got their turn to be immortalized, along with EVERY SINGLE OTHER PROPERTY KNOWN TO MAN, as a Funko Pop vinyl figure. Of course I own them both. Wubba lubba dub dub!
LEGO Dimensions Fun Packs

If you call yourself a fan of the past LEGO video games, then you really should be playing LEGO Dimensions. It’s a complete money sink but in the best possible way. Each fun pack brings a new character and vehicle/weapon that unlocks new powers and secrets in the base LEGO Dimensions game available on all major video game consoles. I own 99% of these except for the Ninjago/Chimera line because I’m 35 years old and I cannot get behind those characters. I can however get behind E.T., Stay Puft, and Superman because: NOSTALGIA. Nothing better than loading Superman up and hearing that amazing John Williams theme when you take to the skies! Unfortunately the A-Team pack uses the WORST Mr. T impersonator, so keep that in mind. I was super bummed.
Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (Director’s Cut)

My favorite Star Trek film gets another blu-ray release with the Director’s Cut (an extra 3 mins!) and Theatrical version of the film. It also has commentary by the director behind the scene featurettes, and more! It also comes with a cover by overrated artist Tyler Stout. Yes, he’s overrated and his designs are terrible. Deal with it. If you do not own Khan on bluray yet, this is the version you want. It still totally holds up and it’s a beautiful transfer as well.
Dead Rising Remastered (Xbox One/PS4)

One of my all time favorite games has been remastered in glorious 1080p at 60 FPS. This was originally released 10 years ago when not many people had HD televisions. I was one of those people. You couldn’t read the in game text because of the poor resolution. Oh god, 10 years ago. I am getting old. We’re all going to die soon. I’ve been slowly going through this on the PS4 the last few weeks and it’s still just as fun driving over thousands of zombies now as it was back then. All that said, the AI is still atrocious and the controls are still funky. Put your trust in Frank. He’s covered wars.

Kids get all of the best toys. I never had any Nerf blaster like this when I was a kid. This thing is legit. It has a spinning saw blade, pump action blasting, and holds up to 8 darts. Get ready for dealing in Trump’s America with this thing. You’re gonna need it.
Mission:Impossible Level Pack – LEGO Dimensions

Level Packs are the best thing about LEGO Dimensions. These basically give you an entirely new “story” to play through using all LEGO Dimensions figures. In this case you will get to play through the entirety of the first M:I movie. It’s GREAT! This is where this game truly shines. These bite sized levels which take around an hour or two to complete are a bunch of fun and never outstay their welcome. Plus it was great to see a Lego Emilio Estevez killed in action. Worst hacker ever.
Ash Vs Evil Dead – The Complete First Season
“Ash vs Evil Dead,” a 10-episode, half-hour series, is the long-awaited follow-up to the classic horror film franchise The Evil Dead. The series follows Ash, the stock boy, aging lothario and chainsaw-handed monster hunter who has spent the last 30 years avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead. The series is executive produced by Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert, and Bruce Campbell, the original filmmakers of the franchise, and Craig DiGregorio (“Chuck”), who serves as executive producer and showrunner.”
If you’re a fan of any of The Evil Dead movies or Ashley J. Williams in general, then you really need to do yourself a favor and grab this set. Personally I was not a fan of the pilot episode even though that was the one that Sam Raimi directed, but once the show picked up in episodes 2 and 3 I was in 100%. It’s funny, gory, and completely over the top. Groovy.
Rick and Morty: Season 1 and Season 2

This is hands down one of the best animated shows of all time. Justin Roiland is a comedic genius. Funny, irreverent, poignant, and dark at all once. If you haven’t checked this show out yet, do yourself a favor and pick this up right away. Season 2 takes an amazing turn that cemented this as one of my favorite science fiction shows of all time.

I chose this because it’s a fucking egg carton filled with Xenomorph eggs. No one needs this. Except maybe Ari. Ari, buy this. Please. Then send me a photo of these with your thousands of other figures. Ridiculous.
Gremlins Team Pack – Lego Dimensions

I’m a fiend for these toys. I seriously own almost all of them. Heck yeah! One of my favorite Christmas movies is now in LEGO form!! Now all we need is a LEGO version of Murray Futterman. This doesn’t come with a full game level based on the movie like the M:I pack above, but it does come with a hub world where you can putz around and complete quick little missions. Plus Phoebe Cates is back as Kate!
King of Tokyo – New Edition Board Game

I ended up grabbing this for family board game night and it became one of my favorite board games in recent years. It has a bit of strategy, luck, and GIANT MONSTERS. It’s a bunch of fun with 4-6 people, especially when people start ganging up on each other. Super easy to learn and super fun to play!
The Joker & Harley Quinn Mad Love Book & Action Figure (2 Pack)

Do yourself a favor and buy this instead of that terrible Suicide Squad movie. This is the best HQ/Joker story.

One of the best comedians of all time is immortalized in this amazing vinyl collection. It’s a shame he left this planet so soon, but his offbeat view of the world lives on within this resurgence of a dead medium thanks to hipsters. Make sure to grab a bag of Sun Chips before listening.
The Art of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

These “Art of” books for the Star Wars saga are always a treat. If you’re a fan of the series at all then I highly recommend you pick this up. Seeing early sketches morph into the final product is always a neat process.
Star Wars Rebels: Season 2

I’m in love with this series. It is one of the best new properties to use the Star Wars name in a long time. The animation is great and a step up from The Clone Wars in my opinion, the characters are a bunch of fun, and they manage to take a massive fuck up from the prequels and make it badass. The last episode in this season is NUTS.
TITANFALL 2 (XBOX ONE/PS4)

This is hands down one of my favorite games of this year. Respawn upped their game in every area from the first entry in the series. There is actually a LEGIT single player campaign that is one of the best in the FPS genre in my opinion. They also stepped up their game in the multiplayer section as well. Crazy amounts of customization options are now there for your Titan and your Pilot. I’ve been putting in at least 2 hours a day on this game since it came out and I don’t see myself getting bored anytime soon. That being said, fuck the Crash Site level. WORST LEVEL EVER.
VISCERAL: The art of Jason Edmiston

Jason is one of my favorite artists in recent years. Our house is plastered with his screenprints and giclees. Again, way too much money has been spent to show people that I like nerd properties. I know, it seems like BDR is sponsored by Lego but that’s not the case. I just really fucking love Lego games. And unlike other games in this market, you’ll only need to buy the starter pack once and that’s it. Then go nuts with all of the crazy licenses that LEGO has such as Gremlins, E.T., Back to the Future, Sonic the Hedgehog, and more! I’m not lying when I say I love this game. I’ve spent way too much money it. It’s one of the best co-op games as well.

I was a day one buyer of this and I do not regret it for a second. I’ve been waiting for Virtual Reality to be avalbale in my home since I was a wee lad of the 80’s. Unfortunately we still don’t have the super sweet full body suits like in The Lawnmower Man but this is a step in the right direction. You’ll want to also grab 2 Move controllers and you’ll need the PS4 camera as well for this to work properly. IT’s totally worth it. Just watch how immersive this is:
