I bought this book on a recommendation from our very own Russ and was blown away at how much I was sucked in to the paranormal activity happening within Keyhouse.  I breezed through this in an hour and proceeded to go pick up the rest in the series.  Great artwork, fantastic story, and it leaves you wanting more.  Highly recommend if you are a horror fan or even someone who enjoys a good ghost story every once in a while.

NECA has been real hit or miss lately, but these seem like a major hit to me. Their Gremlins figures are all kinds of awesome. Series 1 has three gremlins from the first & second films and along with three mogwais from both films. The mogwais seem to be a couple of bucks cheaper. Please buy these so they’ll make series two (I’m still pissed I never got Shredder from the TMNT line).

I was turned onto this by our very own Russ and was hesitant at first.  I’m not a huge fan of anthropomorphism comics but once I saw the art style that all changed.  It’s the sexy lovechild between Disney and film noir.  That is completely selling it short but it’s hard to convey just how awesome this book is.

Super Mario 3D Land (Rob):

After spending a week playing this game it is apparent that Nintendo has a firm grasp on how to make the 3D engaging and more than just an afterthought.  I was able to play through this entire game with the 3D at max setting and didn’t have one problem.  This is a Mario game that goes back to basics.  No more health bar or having to move the camera around to get a better vantage point.  This is  a  pure Mario experience with some of the best platforming since Donkey Kong Country Returns on the Wii.  Easily in my top 5 games of the year.

Drew Struzan: Oeuvre (Rob):

Saint’s Row The Third (Rob):

The third entry in the EPIC Saint’s Row series, The Third take the shenanigans and crudeness to the next level.  Within a span of a few hours you will have slapped someone with a giant penis bat, save a guy from a weird sex club, drive a tiger around and much more.  Also, just like in the previous game you are allowed to create your own character complete with voice which will be featured in all of the cut-scenes.  This, in my opinion, takes the game up a notch if only for the fact you can the most ugly, repulsive, and ridiculous character imaginable interact with the story.  Here’s what my character currently looks like:

He is pretty freaking sweet.  He has a British accent and doesn’t take shit from anybody.  Grand Theft who?  Do yourself a favor and buy this game.  You can thank me later.

The Winston Effect: The Art & History of Stan Winston Studio (Rob):

Stan Winston was an amazing artist and sculptor.  Chances are you love one of his creatures and may not even know it.  Not only did he create the Predator, The Terminator, the T-Rex from Jurassic Park and more, he was also a movie director who directed Pumpkinhead and also A Gnome Named Gnorm (but don’t hold that against him).  Sadly he passed away in 2008 but his works of art will live on forever.  This book is perfect if you’re a fan of the behind the scenes stuff and want to see how your favorite creatures were brought to life.

Ok, so this thing is sold out as of now, but if you can track it down on ebay, then I highly recommend buying it. With lights, sound, and vibrating action it is probably the best Ghostbusters collectible ever.   Mattel does do holiday sales, so hopefully they’ll bring this piece of awesomeness back. Joker Collectible Figure (Rob):

Seriously, look at this thing.  Back in my day our toys all had the same body, arms and legs and the only thing they changed was the head…sometimes.  Now we have figures like this.  SOOOOO LIFELIKE and creepy.  Now as much as I love The Joker in The Dark Knight, this is the version that I grew up on and while Jack was basically playing himself, the look of the character is iconic.  And now you can have him on your bookshelf!

Chris Reeve Superman from Hot Toys (Ari):

Oh Hot Toys, you are definitely my drug of choice nowadays. If you haven’t purchased a Hot Toys figure before, then be warned that once you buy one, you will buy more. While they have so many different figures to chose, I’m putting Superman on here because we have NEVER gotten a Chris Reeve figure of Superman that has even been on the same planet as this one. Hot Toys really blew me away with the likeness, and while he may not be as packed with accessories as The Dark Knight Batman figure, the Fortress of Solitude display really makes up for it. I also included him because I know he’s available right now, and Sideshow still has the exclusive version in stock that comes with the kryptonite necklace. He may be pricey ($210 is more than I paid for my Dark Knight Joker, and he came with two heads and an alternate costume) but this is without a doubt the best 1/6^thscale Superman figure humanity has ever received, plus some of the sales are being donated to the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation.
