So after the oft-maligned 5th entry in the series (not by critics for the most part but mostly fans of the series due to the addition of an A.I. controlled partner) Capcom is back with a vengeance with the new Resident Evil 6 trailer. Zombies seem to be back (yay!) instead of the Majini from part 5 or the Los Ganados from part 4, and it seems that we’ll be playing with both Chris Redfield and Leon Kennedy along with an unknown third male protagonist (possibly Hunk?!).
According to Capcom, the game’s story is as follows:
“It has been ten years since the Raccoon City incident and the President of the United States has decided to reveal the truth behind what took place in the belief that it will curb the current resurgence in bioterrorist activity. Due to be by the President’s side is his personal friend and Raccoon City survivor, Leon S. Kennedy, but when the venue suffers a bioterrorist attack, Leon is forced to face a President transformed beyond recognition and make his hardest ever decision. At the same time, Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance member Chris Redfield arrives in China, itself under threat of a bioterrorist attack. With no country safe from these attacks and the ensuing outbreaks, the entire world’s population is united by a common fear that there is no hope left.”
I’ve been a huge fan of the series since the original and I even loved the last entry (once I pushed through the boring beginning that is) so you could say that I’m super excited for this to come out.
Resident Evil 6 will also receive pre-order bonuses at GameStop, Best Buy and Amazon. According to Capcom, each retailer “will each get an exclusive map that will function with various modes in the game.”
Get ready to kill some zombies on November 20, 2012.
